TIFFIN, Ohio - Newcomer Kassem Rizk complained last week when he was mostly limited to special-teams action in the Southern Michigan Timberwolves' season opener.

Head coach Dick Clark told Rizk he would get his chance and the newcomer made the most of it Saturday night.

Rizk rushed for 127 yards on just five carries and had touchdown runs of 89 and 17 yards as the T-Wolves dominated the Northwest Ohio Raiders 38-2.

Ronneil Davis also had a big night, running for 132 yards including an 89-yard scoring run.

For the second straight week, the T-Wolves never punted. Southern Michigan won its opener 30-0 last weekend.

"This team was definitely a step up from last week," said team vice president Joe DeVault. "They were bigger, stronger and better organized."

Southern Michigan also scored on Isaiah Tilmon's 60-yard interception return, Jovan Johnson's 1-yard run and on a 31-yard field goal by Corey Phillips.

Once again, the T-Wolves' defense did not allow a point. The Raiders were awarded a safety when Nate Lewis' 96-yard run was called back by holding in the end zone.

Ali Bazzi had two sacks, Willis Barringer six tackles, Chavis Hamby four tackles, Zack Hamilton two tackles and a sack, and Eric Summers and Mike Iatzko combined on a sack.

The Timberwolves have the next week off, then open their home season by hosting the London (Ontario) Silverbacks July 12 at Erie Mason.
